Herein, we describe a new strategy for direct asymmetric trifluoromethylation through the copper-catalyzed stereospecific trifluoromethylation of optically active secondary propargyl sulfonates. The reaction enables propargylic trifluoromethylation with high regioselectivity and stereoselectivity.
